Job Description

Big Job Bigger Opportunity Lasting Legacy

Salary c£90,000

Here at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), we believe a financially healthy nation is good for individuals, communities, businesses and the economy. As the largest single funder of free debt advice in England we helped almost 1.26 million people with debt advice, money guidance and pension guidance in the 2019/20 financial year. Were looking for people who have the right skills, knowledge and behaviours for the job, but equally as important is a strong commitment to our objectives, values and vision.

Money touches every aspect of our lives. Money guidance is often given as part of wider services provided by thousands of diverse organisations and practitioners.

As Head of Sector Skills and Development, you will be accountable for developing and delivering a strategy that upskills and develops those responsible for improving the financial wellbeing of people across the UK through our innovative and unique Money Guiders pilot programme. Through this programme we are helping to equip those on the front line of money guidance with the skills they need to make a difference and help their customers with money matters. You will be coordinating across a range of internal and external stakeholders, helping to the programme obtain formal accreditation, and embed it as widely as possible across the UK.

This is an unprecedented opportunity to help improve the money guidance, and therefore the understanding of money and pensions on a national scale. To succeed you will need a  proven track record of developing and delivering skills initiatives, complex project management and delivery experience and the capability of influencing at Board and Director level. Because of the nature of some of our partner relations in this space, you will also have a good commercial understanding and ability to manage contractual relationships with key stakeholders. Knowledge of money guidance itself would be very useful.
