The Faculty of Science and Engineering combines a strong and active research culture with excellence in teaching and learning. Our Faculty is one of the largest in ARU with around 6000 students studying worldwide and is internationally recognised for research in areas including sustainability, future cities and community-focussed ageing. 

Our dedicated Science Centre is at the heart of our Cambridge campus and home to our School of Psychology and Sport Science. We offer a broad range of courses including psychology, sport science, optometry, audiology, sports therapy, and consumer psychology. Our students and staff benefit from access to a range of state-of-the art facilities in which to develop their STEMM careers. We are proud to have been named as the UK’s leading university for sports science courses in the 2021 Guardian League Table. The Faculty currently holds a Bronze Athena Swan award in recognition of our commitment and advancement of gender equality and has recently established a Race Equality Committee to promote activity to address racism in its various forms.

About the Role:

As our new Head of School and member of the Faculty Executive Team, you will have overall responsibility for the development and delivery of the School’s strategic and operational which include plans for significant growth in Psychology student numbers, greater engagement with external organisations and employers, and improved student experience. 

You will bring to this role your academic standing in Psychology or a relevant discipline with previous experience of working in partnership with the NHS and managing clinical/health related areas, as well as a demonstrable track record in improving student experience. 

You will have leadership and management experience in a similar level role with proven ability to develop productive relationships to encourage collaboration and increase the potential for innovative, inter-disciplinary and cross-campus working.

There is potential for this role to be appointed at Professorial level, subject to meeting Anglia Ruskin’s Professorial Appointment Criteria.
