Job Description

Supported by government and industry, NMITE is a disrupter organisation.  Based in Hereford, NMITE is a new higher education provider that is pioneering a different approach to engineering education.  With its first cohort of students joining in 2021, NMITE will enable its students to learn by undertaking real-world engineering and technical projects provided by employers and community groups. NMITE\'s mission is to attract people with different backgrounds into engineering education and provide them with the skills and experience to have measurable impact from day one.

Transitioning from development into delivery, NMITE is seeking to appoint an experienced board member as the next Chair.  The Chair will lead the NMITE\'s governing body, ensuring the highest standards of governance, unity, and engagement, and promoting a collegiate approach to strategic debate and decision making. S/he will play a key role in promoting NMITE\'s stakeholders, both regionally and nationally. The Chair will also provide strategic direction, support, guidance, and constructive challenge to the Chief Executive Officer and NMITE\'s Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will bring the ability to gain the respect and confidence of a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, and bring highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.  A network at a senior level within the private and public sectors, familiarity with start-ups, executive or board-level experience within a regulated industry and an understanding of higher education are all desirable, (if not essential) criteria. S/he must be passionate about NMITE\'s vision, values and objectives. Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the NMITE on this appointment.
