Job Description

About the role

We are looking for Production Consultants capable of delivering in a number of roles across our Operations department. The individual tasks within these roles will vary but the key accountabilities, core behaviours and capabilities are similar.

These roles will work in teams that function as follows:

Role 1 - identify and collate change intelligence to maintain and update our databases, and analyse third party data for ingestion into platforms so that our mapping products continue to meet our customer needs. Ordnance Survey has been awarded an exciting new contract to provide public sector customers with a new and complex range of data, and the successful candidate will play a leading role in identifying, capturing and analysing data from both authoritative and crowd sources to fulfil both of these requirements. This role will include collating information and evaluating the reliability of sources and integrity of the data using various analytical techniques. 

Role 2 provide expert support to production flowlines to ensure efficient delivery of Operations business plan from a data quality perspective. Using technical expertise, the successful candidate will monitor existing data improvement and quality processes and design innovative technical solutions to an array of geospatial  challenges, in addition to providing support for a wide range of assurance activities, for existing and future OS data Products and Services.

Role 3 provide expert support to the external supply chain services team ensuring effective delivery and reporting to the Operations' business plan from a programme and production perspective. Using technical expertise the successful candidate will design innovative technical solutions to an array of geospatial  challenges, in addition to providing support for a wide range of service delivery activities and liaise closely with production consultants across Operations.

Maintaining awareness of industry developments and latest practice, providing advice to stakeholders for potential opportunities (including extracting data and third-party tools)

Manipulate, analyse, and interpret complex data sets

Developing new production capabilities through creative, flexible, and cost-effective solutions to support the delivery of agreed targets

Key Accountabilities specific to individual roles

Applicable to role 1: Analysing third party data to ensure it meets business needs

Applicable to role 2: Reviewing and developing data testing procedures in order to maintain currency with technological advancements, ensuring the integrity and quality of OS data is preserved

Required Skills- common to all roles

A proven track record in understanding and clarifying the needs of stakeholders

Very good communication skills with the ability to engage, work with and influence OS wide business & technical teams and individuals at varying levels

Experience in authoring a variety of clear and effective documentation

A proven track record in investigating, diagnosing, and implementing technical solutions, for example; testing automation, compiling rule requirements and analysis of specifications and requirements to ensure data conformance

Good technical capabilities with experience in spatial database management systems, (e.g. Oracle, PostGIS) , GIS software and tools (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, GeoMedia), and data querying and analysis (e.g. SQL, FME)

Experience using relevant product, data and capture specifications and applying these to geospatial data investigation, statistical analysis, problem solving and the delivery of technical reports

Pro-actively seeking opportunities for data and process improvements and are self- sufficient in managing your workload

Required Skills- specific to role 1

Very good knowledge of data extraction techniques from third party sources, including, for example, crowd sourcing
