What were looking for:

Direct Line Group is in the process of re-discovering its Software Engineering roots through digital transformation and transition into an Agile way of working. We seek Technology Leaders with curious and forward-thinking minds, to challenge the status-quo of software engineering and architecture.

Youll need to bring a wealth of technical expertise and hands-on approach coupled with the ability to mentor, guide and possibly lead a team driving Cloud adoption in Infrastructure and Application Development.

Youll be fundamental to the future of Software Engineering here at Direct Line Group and as such, youll need experience in areas such as; Java/JavaScript, AWS, CI/CD and Python and ideally in other areas such as; Mulesoft, Guidewire, Git, Spring, SQL, REST & Docker.

Who youll be working with:

Working within the Tech Enabling Tribe at DLG who are passionate about supporting the development of your technical and leadership skills.

You will join delivery teams to help with new technologies, patterns and process adoption. Insurance experience is not crucial, what is important is that you as individual can work out solution to a challenge without being supervised.

What youll be doing:

Develop and deliver an enterprise wide software engineering strategy to support business and technical change goals whilst driving system stability, maintainability and flexibility

Effectively lead Software Engineers and collaborate with Solution Architects in the design of modern software solutions

Deliver Technical Examples, Proof of Concepts and Templates for Teams to adopt, streamlining projects bootstrapping and enabling existing projects to adopt appropriate practices

Perform Technical Spikes required in new Technologies and Processes assessment

Propose new tools and adoption roadmap

Work closely with the business and leadership team to drive progress against the plan and identify any areas where mitigations or interventions are required

Effectively handle risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and change requests.

Provide hands-on support to all employees, collaborating with people across widely varying levels and roles, leading teams toward further understanding and adoption of Software Engineering as well as overall company growth and improvements
