The role

What were looking for:

We have a new permanent opportunity for an experienced Property and Casualty Underwriter to manage the ongoing products and control risk aspects of the underwriting process within the Head Office Complex Non Motor underwriting team! This role will involve working closely with Regional Underwriters, Risk Control, Claims and the wider team to help deliver profitable results, manage risk and ensure product compliance across the commercial division. It is essential for this role that you have experience working within a commercial lines underwriting environment, taking care of all aspects of Commercial Risks

What youll be doing:

Develop and help to manage the products within Complex Non Motor Underwriting team to support the wider business in writing profitable business

Ensure your own technical underwriting knowledge is kept up to date

Participate in Risk Assurance reviews and therefore maintain effective risk management

Take ownership of technical referrals from Regional Underwriters, providing perspective, guidance and where appropriate sign off within your own authority

Assist with regular Product reviews, ensuring all documentation is compliant and Underwriting guides are maintained

Assist with projects, providing input into the strategy of the business going forward

Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriately to this role, in line with the company risk framework. Communicate to peers and team managers where you have discovered product, model or data issues and suggest appropriate remedial actions

Ensure compliance with core Direct Line Group Policies, statutory and regulatory requirements, governance controls (including all relevant risk minimum standards) and timely completion of risk and audit actions, ensuring reputational risk is minimised
