Chapter Lead - Engineering

The role

What we are looking for:

Are you someone whom can provide hands-on guidance and has the energy and drive to empower and inspire the people they work with? As a Chapter Lead you will lead by example within your squad and across your Chapter, building confidence and enable your team to grow and develop.

Using your expertise you'll help set the standards and methodology within the chapter, sharing knowledge, training, coaching and mentoring others. Direct Line Group are looking for someone willing to challenge the status quo. With your help we want to build and promote an environment and culture of expertise, development, continuous improvement, experimentation, and innovation!

Who you'll be working with:

You will work closely with your Chapter Area Leads and other Chapter Leads as well as the Chapter Members to design and make sure work standards and met.

You will collaborate with the Chapter Area Leads and Tribe Leads to allocate the right people in the right squads and hiring new talent. In addition to this, you'll participate in regular meetings with Product Owners, Chapter Leads & Agile Coaches to conduct squad members performance reviews, identifying training needs and managing individual performance levels.

You will report to your Chapter Area Lead.

What you'll be doing:

Alongside your daily duties within your own squad, you will be responsible for how results are achieved and encourage chapter members to own their decisions, actions and outcomes. You will drive work standards within your craft, actively support chapter members to continuously build new capabilities and providing development and learning opportunities.

You will also be responsible for the individuals career development and progression and represent them in performance assessments. You will be a decision maker in recruitment.

You'll show your passion for delivering technology that enables our vision, purpose and strategic objectives. You will take ownership of the design, build and running of our technology and provide technical leadership to continually improve our products, solutions, tools and processes.

As an Engineering Chapter Lead, you will also:

Use your engineering skill-set to deliver reliable and agile technology solutions.

Demonstrate a desire to continually master the craft of software engineering.

Actively manage risk, quality and architectural and technical debt to ensure we deliver on our promises to customers and are there for them in their hour of need.

Use your interpersonal skills to give advice and effectively convey sophisticated technical messages to audiences without a technology background.
