About the role

The Financial Reporting team is responsible for the complete, accurate and prompt preparation and submission of all regulatory and statutory reporting for the Life Companies, and also the delivery of reporting related change activity.

The role holder will be responsible for assisting in the provision of professional accountancy and/or finance analysis services by executing specific and regular finance processes to ensure the organisation meets its regulatory, reputational and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Complete specific standard Accountancy and / or analytical  functions (including producing financial reports - performance, TBs, controls and OSP oversight, providing analysis of data, statutory reporting, etc) as assigned by manager  to meet business and regulatory requirements.

Support the on-going delivery of robust, effective and efficient operational finance processes and controls.

Undertake project work to support the development of robust and effective financial reporting.

Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and processes and maintain evidence/audit trail as required.

Undertake analysis of a range of business data and reports to assist manager in assessing commercial viability and tax efficiency of proposed business strategies.

Apply agreed appropriate quality assurance controls to all work produced to ensure the accuracy and validity of the Company's financial information.

Ensure best use of resource and skill development by working flexibly across the range of tasks performed in the function.

Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the business.

Participate in team discussions on areas such as key activities and deliverables.

Work closely with stakeholders across the business.

Essential

Excellent understanding of double entry book-keeping.

Regularly working to defined and tight timescales whilst maintaining professional standards.

Balancing competing priorities on different pieces of work in challenging timescales.

Influencing decisions across the organisation teams where priorities and interests are often conflicting.

Keeping technical & business knowledge up to date in area of expertise.

Maintaining up to date professional knowledge in an environment of fast-moving regulatory change.

Communicating with others to develop their understanding and knowledge of accounting procedures.

Ensuring a continually high quality of output.
