Financial Reporting Projects & Change Manager (Senior Leadership)

About the role

The Financial Reporting Projects and Change team is responsible for change activity originating in the team, supporting delivery of strategic and regulatory projects impacting the financial reporting of the Life Companies.

This role requires an experienced accountant to provide business leadership for all change activity originating in the team, whilst proactively supporting delivery of change activity affecting the area originating elsewhere in the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Operate as a business leader i.e. finalise business requirements, implementation of a solution, achieve business sign off, oversee organisational impacts and support embedding into business processes and systems.

Maintain executive management level presence and focus.

Drive operational readiness through appropriate business sign off from third parties and recipient departments in advance of go-live.

Lead and support development and delivery of implementation plans and operating model principles and procedures, whilst managing interdependencies across change programmes and BAU.

To fully understand the interactions of all life funds from a financial reporting viewpoint to provide insights to stakeholders.

Manage significant complexities throughout the end-to end financial reporting process: operate with agility, flexibility and solutions-orientation. The role holder is expected to anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and recommend for solutions.

Manage third party and internal stakeholder groups across the business, accounting operations, unit pricing, actuarial reporting, banking, reassurance, tax, technology, sourcing and legal.

Maintain a high level of accountancy knowledge and understanding of multiple different reporting bases (e.g. IFRS, S2) in order to ensure a comprehensive consultancy service can be provided to business decision makers.

Lead to ensure all data is prepared and reported in accordance with relevant reporting standards and business reporting requirements.

To lead the processes to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Lead, coach and mentor a team to maximise their contribution and ensure they are fairly rewarded.

To act as an escalation point of resolution of complex issues or decisions that relate to the team.

Essential

Technical skills and knowledge of accounting operational processes in a financial services organisation (preferably, a life insurer)

Leadership experience drive staff to a common goal whilst holding them accountable for day to day delivery

Stakeholder management, including influencing senior business leaders

Act as an escalation point for resolution of complex issues or decisions

Strong facilitation skills

Previous experience of managing or leading significant projects and their impact on finance (preferable, but not essential)
