TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING AND OVERSIGHT MANAGER

About the role

This role is a key leadership role within the financial reporting team, requiring a highly technical accountant to lead a team overseeing the accounting treatment of all business & regulatory changes affecting the Life Companies, oversight over the valuation methodology for invested assets and pro-forma disclosures, and the co-ordination of risk & controls and the reporting process.

Key Responsibilities

To lead the production of robust technical papers and policy decisions on unusual transactions and events, including impact of key business decisions on financial results.

To coordinate, oversee and finalise high quality board and committee papers and reports from the Finance Reporting & Operations teams.

To oversee interpretation, impact assessment and implementation of new standards and changes to accounting standards and regulatory guidance for life companies.

To own and oversee updates and alignment of the pro-forma financial statements of life companies for business changes and other financial reporting updates (including, alignment to the Group financial reports).

To provide input into the Group Finance team which monitors external reporting and regulatory change environment in order to identify and assess impact of legal, accounting and regulatory changes for Life Finance.

To liaise closely with Group Finance in order to understand and determine the impact of the Group financial reporting requirements and instructions on the overall reporting process and calendar of the Life Companies.

To oversee and coordinate the risk & controls reporting across the Finance Reporting & Operations teams.

To maintain and oversee the financial reporting calendar, reporting timetable and the late adjustment process during the reporting cycle.

To oversee and coordinate the narrative reporting for life companies under the Pillar 3 of Solvency II utilising support and input from other areas of the business.

To finalise the calculation of recourse cash flow for SLAL and seek its approval by the board.

To own the accounting policies for fair valuation of illiquid assets and oversee the controls and activities to this end in the Investment Accounting & Reporting Team. 

Essential

Qualified Accountant with significant PQE.

Significant experience of Life Company Accounting and Reporting.

A proven track record of producing sound technical accounting analysis.

Good professional impact and credibility.

Able to communicate confidently, asserting influence at all levels and across functions.

Ability to communicate with other areas of the business and able to present information requests and financial data in an easily understandable manner.

Excellent organisational ability.

Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
