Job Description

North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System

Independent Chair

Location North East & North Cumbria

Remuneration up to £70,000 for 2-3 days per week.

North East and North Cumbria (NENC) ICS is a partnership of NHS providers, NHS commissioners, Local Authorities and VCSE and other stakeholders working together to improve services and help the 3.1 million people in North East and North Cumbria live longer, healthier lives.

The aims of the partnership are to work together to join up health, wellbeing and care services and to listen to the priorities of our communities. In that way we can tackle some of the biggest challenges we are facing in NENC in terms of Health Inequalities and the socio economic impact of the COVID 19 Pandemic supporting the work of Local authorities, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSE), the NHS, the police and criminal justice agencies, Fire and Rescue Services and the wider partnership, to improve the health and well-being of the population, the quality of care they receive, and the effectiveness with which we spend tax-payers money on their behalf.

Our ICS, as in other parts of the country, is not a legal entity but a partnership of organisations based on the development of strong relationships. The journey is under way and the newly appointed Chair will shape the approach to partnership development, building on engagement so far.

NENC is the largest ICS in England geographically serving a population of 3.1 million people. The Chair of the Partnership will therefore require the qualities and reputation to inspire and provide clear leadership in the next stage in ICS evolution.

The role requires vision and experience to enable and galvanise the work of system leaders to maximise the benefits of collaborative working, shared decision making and effective governance.

The chairing of the NENC ICS Partnership Board will require significant engagement with a range of stakeholders, including groups of senior executive and non-executive, NHS leaders, MPs, Elected Members and Council Executives, leaders of external stakeholders e.g. universities, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations sector, regulators and members of the public.

If you believe you possess the skills to articulate the advantages of integration and co-production, and to broker tough decisions among partners, please in the first instance contact Robin Staveley or Lucy Deane of GatenbySanderson on 07825 990 792.

Closing date: 9AM Wednesday 18th November.  Interviews week commencing 14th December.
