This is a 4-month fixed term contract to join our Fund Accounting Reassurance team to prepare monthly reinsurance premiums and claims accounts through to settlement, including general ledger postings and reconciliations.
The role:
Reporting to the Reassurance Accountant and working closely with external companies and outsourcers, the main focus of your role will be to undertake the preparation of regular reinsurance premiums and claims accounts through to settlement, including general ledger postings and reconciliations to tight deadlines. An ability to interrogate complex data extracts used to support the calculations, to identify and challenge anomalies through to conclusion is required. You will also be expected to undertake monthly reviews of accounting reconciliations for outsourced reinsurance activities, with responsibility to investigate anomalies and aged items to a successful resolution. A keen eye for detail is required as well as an ability to follow pre-defined processes which set out the main deliverables and deadlines.
We are looking for:
Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills and an ability to produce information for Reinsurers and Outsourcers to tight deadlines
Comfortable with using Microsoft Excel, including the use of V-Lookup formulae and an ability to filter large data files to focus attention on issues
A willingness and ability to interrogate large data extracts to identify data integrity issues
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven double entry accounting experience
Good communication skills
A basic understanding of the main features and terminology of reinsurance / annuities would be an advantage
