Want to play your part in shaping electric vehicle and car club policy in London?

We are looking for a highly motivated person with enthusiasm, innovative ideas and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.

Although this is a generic policy post, you will be based in the Transport and Environment policy team, working specifically on the coordination of car club and electric vehicle infrastructure policy and activity. The post is joint funded by London Councils and Transport for London (TfL) and it is desirable for you to have experience of contributing to policy development in these areas.

You will work closely with the Senior Lead for Electric Vehicles and Car Clubs to coordinate and support policy and activity in these areas. Your responsibilities will include working with London boroughs, TfL, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and others to facilitate the sharing of relevant information and best practice, analysing data to inform policy development and strategic planning, supporting borough delivery of programmes including the Go Ultra Low Cities Scheme and lobbying for, identifying and applying for funding to continue the delivery of electric vehicle infrastructure. This is an exciting time to work in these areas, responding directly to environmental, population growth and congestion challenges. It will present opportunities for you to shape London-wide approaches and leave your mark on the London transport and environment landscape.

This role will require you to build effective relationships across sectors and communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders. You will also represent London Councils in a variety of internal and external forums. It will be important for you to have experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, creative problem solving and managing a varied workload in a pressurised environment.

You will work in a dynamic and forward-thinking team responsible for transport and environment policy issues. The team lead on responding to the impact of spending reductions, driving investment in Londons transport infrastructure, improving Londons air quality, finding solutions to Londons energy needs and developing creative and collective approaches to a variety of issues.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that Londons councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses. We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.

Closing date for applications is Monday 12 October 2020 at 12 Noon.

Interviews will be Monday 19 October - Wednesday 21 October 2020.
