Learning Disabilities Support Worker

Chelmsford, Essex

Permanent, Part Time 18hpw

Salary £18,200 to £18,450 pa rising to £19,200 through length of service pro rata

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers, who have learning disabilities. Our customers are in supported accommodation, which consists of 8 one bedroomed properties situated among general needs customers within Rookes Crescent, this is not far from the main town centre and the main office. 

 

We help our customers to become independent, meeting them weekly to support them in education, training, employment and meaningful activities, we work with partnership agencies to ensure we are providing the best support for our customers.

About our team

Youll be working alongside our fabulous team, who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team were a €œwork family€. Our manager is Alison Ponto who has managed the service for the past seven years along-side Mark Estcourt Support coordinator who has been with the service for 5yrs. There are just two of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! fortunately we have the advantage of being part of Alison's other team in Southend which means we have access to a wider team.

Working hours 

Youll work between the hours of 9am and 3pm, We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

 

About you

Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

 

We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!

 

To we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

 

If youre not the biggest fan of technology, thats not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, were glad to support you, if you need help.  

 

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however its your €œcan do€ positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

 

As this is a community-based role, youll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)

 

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
