As one of two HR Advisors, you'll work hand in hand with our HR Business Partners to provide brilliant people-focussed support to a defined portfolio of teams and functions across Home Group. You'll be a first point of contact for managers to seek advice and guidance on a range of people management issues, from wellbeing, to absence management, to performance and conduct. You'll be confident and experienced in handling ER matters and will have the ability to quickly learn the way we do things at Home Group, and to confidently coach and support managers to resolve issues.
 
Success in this role will be driven from an energised, proactive and passionate approach to enabling brilliant people management at Home Group. Theres an opportunity to really add value in this role through upskilling and sharing knowledge with other colleagues and managers, to drive self-service and our commitment to getting things right first time. About our team
Youll be working as part of our wider HRD department (circa 40 colleagues) and more specifically, with our HR team (11 colleagues). Most of the team are co-located in Newcastle with 4 of our HR Business Partners in London, so youll be providing support directly, remotely and through various channels. As you'd expect, we're working from home at the moment so the same would apply to you. We'd provide you with all the right kit too. We regularly stay connected through Microsoft Teams, so you'll still feel like part of the team.
 
Youll report into Jess, one of our HR Managers based in Newcastle. Jess is never seen without a flat white in the morning, will happily debate what constitutes a decent Spotify playlist and has a penchant for TED talks. As a team we work hard, we deal with some tricky subjects and things are often fast paced but we place a lot of importance on our wellbeing and we all work flexibly to support each other. Were a diverse bunch with a good sense of humour, so be prepared to have some fun with us along the way. 
 
A bit about you
Youll be a natural collaborator and confident in working with colleagues from front-line to our Executive Team. The HR Advisor role will be our first point of contact for formal employee relations cases, so youll have a good foundation of knowledge of our people processes to give accurate advice.
 
As a pivotal support to our HR Business Partners, youll know your way around a spreadsheet and have an ability to interpret data and make proactive recommendations for improvement. Its important that you embrace a digital first approach to how we work and youll support the team in making best use of data and insights to support our customers across the business.
 
Working hours
You'll be providing valuable maternity cover for up to 12 months. Whilst the role is available on a full time basis (37.5 hours), were open to flexible working arrangements or part-time hours proposals.
 
Here at Home Group we believe flexibility works both ways. Our focus is on getting the job done and delivering great results, not your working hours. When we are able to make a safe return to our offices, this post would be based at our head office in South Gosforth (Newcastle upon Tyne), although we expect home working will be a more regular feature for the team going forward too.
