Torquay, Devon
Permanent, Full Time 37.5 hpw

We have an amazing opportunity for you to join our fantastic Mental Health Support team, as our Waking Nights Support Coordinator. Youll be part of a small night working team, offering our customers a first point of call when needed. This job isnt always easy and our customers can be tough to support at times, however the job is hugely rewarding!
 
Youll working regular waking night shifts at our mental health recovery services here in Exeter. Our CQC registered service provides support to our brilliant customers, who have a range of mental health conditions and support needs. We support our customers in their homes, helping them gain independence and the skills needed to move forward in the right direction, across our properties in Exeter and Torquay. Our customers are unique, and very different in their own ways and we adapt how we support them.
 
About our team
Although youll work nights, we do get together regularly in the day time for training and team meetings. Our team describe themselves as really friendly and approachable. In fact when new members have joined us in the past, its been said that they felt welcomed by colleagues and our customers from day one! Were also super passionate about supporting our customers. With colleagues as warm and team spirited as ours, were not just a team were a €œwork family€!
 
Many of our team have progressed their careers within Home Group. Becky is the Registered Manager for the service and has worked here for six years. Adam, Geoff, Robyn and Becky have all become managers having started in support roles. Our Clinical Lead, Ian has been with us for a few years too, and loves the transition hes made to join us from the NHS. There are more than 40 of us who work in our amazing team and 12 of us based out of Shiphay. We dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too!
 
We are also investing in our teams clinical knowledge and experience, so when you join there is lots of scope for personal growth and development. But if you are happy doing your own thing then that is great too!
 
Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers every day, so youll work on a rota basis and take your turn working weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of your customers, however we will be flexible too to find and agree a working pattern that suits all of our needs! In fact if you would rather work for us on a casual basis, we can help you with that too on our bank. 
 
This role is for night owls, as you'll support our customers throughout the night, and will generally work 3 shifts per week between 7pm to 8am. It would also be amazing if you drive and have access to a car (we do pay your expenses to cover this use!), but it's not a deal breaker if you don't!
 
Bank
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank. You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
 
About you
Dealing with our customers isnt always easy, and we have to deal with some quite challenging mental health situations at times. Thats why its important that you are resilient and not easily put off. You also need to have a great problem-solving approach to dealing with complex situations as well as a great understanding of professional boundaries, responsibility for safeguarding, risk assessment, confidentiality and have experience in case management.
 
Youre passionate and motivated. To you providing care and support is more than just a job, you make every customer feel valued and respected. Youre compassionate, and use your unique empathy and creativity skills to help our customers reach their full potential. Treating your customers with integrity, you ensure that they maintain their dignity at all times.
 
Youll help change our customers lives (and our services) for the better working with day staff on risk assessments and support planning. Youll support customers with their bespoke personalised support plans.  Each plan will look to meet our customers individual potential and long term goals, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements. Youll also have responsibility for coordinating other night support workers and working collaboratively with external agencies where relevant.
 
To keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) Youll be using the latest kit shared between the staff in the service office and as most of our systems are computer based, we will be more than happy to support you.
 
To make sure our customers are well supported, its desirable but not essential that you have worked in a mental health recovery environment before. Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well help you to understand how things work at Home Group!
 
When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
