Support Worker
West Yorkshire, Huddersfield
Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)
Salary £18,200 to £18,450 pa rising to £19,200 through length of service

At Home Group its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally where possible. 
 
We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who are rough sleeping or at the risk of rough sleeping. Clare House is a 24 hour service, we offer temporary supported accommodation to 20 adults over the age of 22, we also have two crash pads. We fully embrace the principles of the PIE model and are committed to addressing the root causes of homelessness and the resettlement of people into sustainable accommodation. 
 
Many Customers have experienced relationship breakdown and/or financial issues, and some have served in the armed forces. We support customers who have one or more mental health condition; these include: personality disorder, depression, anxiety and PTSD. They live in a furnished ensuite room grouped into five flats; each flat also includes a spacious open-plan communal kitchen, dining and lounge area. Clare House is close to Huddersfield train station and local amenities.
 
We help our customers set up their benefits and sign post them to other agencies they may need, such as drug and alcohol advice. We support customers with health needs and support them to attend appointments.
We work very closely with other agencies in Kirklees, helping our customers work towards independent living.

About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team were a work family. Our manager is Melissa who has over 8 years of experience in the sector. There are 13 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! In the team we have 3 support co-ordinators, 5 support workers, 2 night support workers, an activity worker, a peer mentor co-ordinator and domestic support. 
 
Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. Youll work on a rota basis and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays]. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
 
About you
Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
 
We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Support Coordinators and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!
 
To keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)
 
To make sure our customers are well supported, its important that you have worked in a similar environment before. Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well help to you understand how things work at Home Group!
 
When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
