Homeless and Mental Health Support Worker
Hampshire, Aldershot
Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)
Salary £18,200 to £19,200 depending on skills and experience

At Home Group its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally where possible. 
 
We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have been assessed as having support and accommodation needs such as: homelessness, recovering from mental ill-health, learning difficulties, from substance misuse, and probation customers, who are at risk of re-offending without the appropriate support.
 
They live in a shared 4 storey apartment block comprising 7 shared flats, accommodating 20 single people. There are 20 x bed spaces across 7 flats designated as stage 1. All Customers have their own lockable bed-sitting rooms with shared facilities of kitchen/diner, bathroom and additional W.C. All flats are fully furnished and have storage heaters throughout the building. There is a private car park. The property has security entrance doors with intercom connections to each flat and C.C.T.V is in operation throughout the property. 
 
We help our customers through complimenting and integrating with existing support service networks for each individual. This could include, but is not limited to, debt counsellors, employment advisors, resettlement, drug and alcohol specialists, family workers, mediation, health-care professionals etc. Support will be delivered flexibly depending on individual circumstances and levels of need.  Support sessions will be offered in a variety of ways and locations to fit in with the customers circumstances at the time.
 
A support plan will be developed by the link worker, customer and any other appropriate person.  The support plan might include goals around: Move-on accommodation options; Literacy and numeracy enrolment onto appropriate courses; Offending behaviour and understanding triggers; Mental health including WRAP plans; Physical health; Social skills; Alcohol/drug use; Life skills (including cooking, cleaning, money management, leisure activities, finance management); Education, training and employment; Self-harming behaviour; Spiritual/cultural.
 
About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team were a work family. Our manager is Chris Nyamunga, who has 14 years and 4 months length of service and loves football. There are 10 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! Sue has 18 years length of service and she loves cats, Karen Bull has 10 has service and is obsessed with Take That; Wendy, 6 years service, loves her designer labels; Yvette, 3.5 years service and loves impersonating characters; Caleb, has just over 2 years service and loves the outdoor; Kim, just over 3 years service and is obsessed with pink colours; Jade, just over a 1 year of service and loves her fitness; Magdalena, joined us in February 2020 and last and not least, Margaret, has over 26 years of service!!! She loves taking holidays to Cheshire.
 
Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8.30 am 9.00 pm and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays]. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
 
About you
Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
 
We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!
 
To keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)
 
You do need to know that we are quite a high tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However were glad to support you, if you need help. 
 
To make sure our customers are well supported, its important that you have worked in a care setting, e.g. supported housing environment before. Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well help to you understand how things work at Home Group!
 
As this is a community based role, youll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)
 
When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
