The Role:
As a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant, based here in Wythall, youll provide key support to our Business As Usual processes across the financial reporting calendar, build your knowledge of a range of our funds, and quickly gain exposure to stakeholders, right up to a senior level.
From production of quarterly regulatory and semi-annual statutory submissions, to analysing data from our fund accounting and actuarial teams, to dealing with queries from stakeholders around the business, youll play a key role in ensuring we meet our financial reporting obligations as a highly-regarded FTSE 100 organisation.
Youll also be responsible for managing and motivating two members of staff, ensuring that they are able to support delivery of the teams reporting objectives.
Were passionate about sharing best practice across our teams, so therell be plenty of encouragement for you to keep up-to-date with industry developments or new reporting standards affecting our business.
Youll also play a key role in assisting with the testing, implementation and integration of any resulting changes to our systems or processes, in order to improve the way we work and to minimise any risks to which were exposed.
Youll also gain the opportunity to demonstrate your technical knowledge, through authorship of Board papers.
What were looking for:
You are likely to be a qualified accountant and ideally have previous experience of working within a Financial Services environment, together with a good working knowledge of reporting standards such as IFRS (with previous exposure to regulatory reporting under the Solvency II regime being particularly advantageous, but not essential).
Youll be comfortable with:
taking ownership of a wide range of tasks
working to tight deadlines
using your initiative to suggest and implement process improvements where appropriate
applying a critical eye to look more deeply into financial information, to understand the full picture of what our numbers really mean at a commercial and strategic level
You should also be able to demonstrate:
knowledge of the practical issues involved in the production of financial reports
strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
adaptability and approachability in a close team environment
and an ability to be self-motivated and organised
