Adult Women Support Worker
Cedar House, Newcastle upon Tyne
Permanent, Part Time (28 hpw)
Salary of £18,200 to £19,900 pa, pro rata

At Home Group its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally where possible.
 
We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have been referred to our service by the Housing Advise function of Newcastle City Council. The customers we support at Cedar are all adult women in crisis with complex needs. Our fantastically modern, secure and homely service enables the customers to live in a settled and calm way to hopefully regroup and get their lives back to a place where they are comfortable with.
 
They live in a fab service. It has 24 units of varying independence from en suite rooms with communal facilities to fully self-contained flats with all the home comforts you could wish for. We are set in our own private grounds but also really central to Byker, Shields Road is nearby with lots of local amenities.
 
We help our customers to develop skills and tools to regain control of their lives by building a support plan with them. The model we are moving towards -LIFE (Living Independently and Feeling Enabled) really does focus on our customers strengths and skills and looks towards empowering them to realise their aspirations and dreams. We dedicate our time with our customers to getting them ready to move on to their own accommodation with all the confidence and skills they need to make it a success and sustainable option for them.
  
About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team were a €œwork family€. Our manager is Fintan, who has been with Home Group for over 20 years helping his staff to develop a great service with awesome outcomes.
There are 16 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! 
 
Working hours 
Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of 7am and 8.30pm take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
 
About you
Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
 
We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!
 
To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)
 
It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however its your €œcan do€ positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!
 
 
As this is a community based role, youll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)
 
When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
