Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. Thats when it hits home.

At Home Group its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally where possible.

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who are aged 25+ and have complex needs - this includes physical and emotional health needs, substance addition and offending behaviour.
They live in different settings, from our shared supported accommodation in Railway Terrace North Shields, to their own tenancy in the community (this could be anywhere within North Tyneside).
We help our customers by building trusting relationships with them, and supporting them to set and achieve their goals.  One day you could be completing a support plan with a customer, another day you could be supporting them with budgeting or shopping.  One of our main roles is to support our customers to live independently in their own tenancies.  The wellbeing of our customers is massively important, this could involve you being there to listen, to supporting a customer in crisis.

Customer quote
€œMy support worker has helped me through my darkest time and has kept me focussed, she always goes out of her way to help.€

About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team were a work family.

Our managers are Rob and Elaine.  Rob went vegan in January 2020 and loves to enthral the team with his plant based stories (!) while Elaine claims to be 'on the road' to veganism but cheese just keeps getting in the way.  Rob has worked for Home Group for three years, prior to this he worked in supported housing.  What he doesn't know about housing law isn't worth knowing.  Elaine has worked for Home Group for the past seven years, starting as a support co-ordinator.  Prior to this she worked in mentoring and support work within young people's services.

There are 21 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too!  Some of our colleagues in Railway Terrace worked in different sectors before joining us, for example Keith has worked with us for the past year and is a painter and decorator by trade ... if you stare at him for long enough he puts his practical skills into action and will make you a coffee.

Working hours
Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8am and 8pm and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Bank
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

About you
Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.

Youll help change our customers lives (and our services) for the better by undertaking risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews. Youll create bespoke and personalised support plans with and for your customers.  Each plan will look to meet our customers individual needs and aspirations, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements. Youll also have responsibility for coordinating our support workers, apprentices and volunteers, and working collaboratively with external agencies, to assess and engage support for our customers.

We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!

To keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) Youll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you dont have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go.

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however its your €œcan do€ positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

As this is a community based role, youll need to travel around to spend time with your customers. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
