Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. Thats when it hits home.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a brilliant Supported Living Worker to join our fab and supportive team. Our newly registered CQC service provides support to our brilliant customers who have learning disabilities and/or autism within both a community support setting or in our supported accommodation.

Were moving to a sparkly new building in a couple of months which is next to Chantry Park, Ipswich. The new building is stunning with its own private car park with plenty of spaces. The building is going to be fitted with state of the art assistive technology, air conditioning, has its own gardens and it is being built on a huge field so we will have loads of space outside! We also offer support in customers homes and in the community throughout Suffolk as an Urgent Outreach service.

Were a really busy service, supporting our customers who are experiencing behavioural and/or mental health crisis for up to four weeks to achieve their goals and aspirations using their bespoke support plans. We support our customers to become more stable and ultimately to return home. Youll provide a variety of holistic support, so no two days are the same! You could be supporting someone to go to college or work, to going to music lessons or a football match, to arts and crafts, even just going walking in the countryside, anything that they enjoy that is engaging. You could even find yourself enjoying a Netflix binge, one of our customers favourites! Youll be working closely with other agencies and our senior support workers to assess and engage support, and Im sure youll find, as we do that its really rewarding when a customer is able to return home.

About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting our customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team were a work family. Our manager is Hannah whos worked for Home Group for nearly two years now, building up the service from scratch! Hannah is a trained behavioural specialist so is a great source of support and guidance in the service. Hannah is an animal lover and is always rescuing stray animals in need, and when working from home shes sometimes joined by her cat on her phone calls! Youll also get to work with our deputy managers Amy and Leila as well as our team of senior support workers and support workers. We not just there for our customers, were there for each other too! Our job can be fast paced and challenging but were in it together and when our customers achieve their aspirations we know weve done a great job. There is never a dull moment and every day brings different magical unicorn moments and brain teasing challenges to overcome.

Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day and night including weekends and bank holidays. Youll work on a rota basis taking your turn to work weekends and sleeps-ins. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

About you
Youll be super energised, with a positive can do attitude, your empathy and creative spark will really shine through as will your ability to empower customers to reach their full potential.  Youll bring the skin of a Rhino and the heart of a Lion, which does not take away from the caring nature you display towards your colleagues and customers. Youll have a practical understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and support plans as well as the ability to empower customers from all different backgrounds. If you have no prior experience working in health and social care thats ok, we like to get a good mix of experienced and shiny newbies with fresh eyes and perspectives.

Youll ideally hold the Care Certificate/Level 2 in Health and Social Care, but if you dont, well support you to achieve this (and pay for it!). This is an excellent opportunity if youre looking for the next challenge. Youll be trained within an inch of your life (so dont worry about that) to gain a true understanding of our systems and to capture all the excellent outcomes we are going to achieve.

If youre a wizard at supporting people through difficult times who might engage in behaviours of concern, able to identify and act upon safeguarding issues, love to be busy every day and go home knowing youve made a positive change to someones life then this is the job for you!  Youll constantly learn new things and be stretched professionally, emotionally, physically and practically; your learning will be immense.

If youre not the biggest fan of technology, thats not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However were glad to support you, if you need help.

As this is a community based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Dont worry, well pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
