Product Management is all about making sure that our products remain appropriate and deliver the promised outcomes throughout the lifetime of the customer relationship. In order to do that we need to understand and deliver all product promises to customers through our outsourced service providers in a manner consistent with the Phoenix culture and current legislative and regulatory requirements.

Our overall aim is to ensure that products meet our customers' needs, offering enhancements in agreed key areas and ensuring that we treat all customers fairly.

We are focused on maintaining and operating a Product Governance framework, seeking to identify and address any potential risks of our products delivering poor customer outcomes, ensuring that terms and charges on products are current, appropriate and correctly applied and support analysis of product enhancement initiatives to identify opportunities for improving customer and shareholder value.

The team is made up of subject matter experts with extensive knowledge of the firm’s products and the legislative, regulatory and tax framework within which the products are operated. The team has primary responsibility for strengthening the Product Governance framework, ensuring that product risks are appropriately identified and prioritised, with actions taken to address findings that fall outside of the firm’s risk appetite. By acting as business owners for any potential product related incidents, the team also ensures that our customers' expectations are met even when things go wrong.

Role purpose

This is an exciting opportunity in a specialist role within our product management team – which sits within the wider Proposition function – directly responsible for managing a designated book of life, investment and protection products, whilst acting as a final product reference source both internally and to our outsourcer partners.

Specifically. this will focus on ensuring that life, investment and protection products are operated in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as policy conditions and enjoy continued compliance in respect of existing business and increments.

In addition, you’ll also be expected to take ownership of any product related corporate incidents that may arise and provide product related support to on-going project activity, including outsourcer transformation initiatives, which will require good relationships with 3rd party providers.

The Requirements

Ideally, we’re seeking a highly accomplished life product expert, with significant industry experience – evidenced by a practical and in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, coupled with a good understanding of current and historic products. Knowledge of equity release products would also be beneficial.

Holding or working towards a professional qualification – actuarial or CII – you should also be a confident communicator, with excellent relationship building ability, especially in respect of managing the expectations of 3rd parties and internal stakeholders. The ability to deal with a wide range of business stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organisation will be important.

Working in a team and based within a function that strongly supports personal development, this role offers genuine prospects for continuing advancement in terms of your skills base, product knowledge and career aspirations.

About us

Join the Phoenix Group, and you join a unique organisation. It’s not just the 10 million policyholders we serve, or the £240 billion of assets we look after. This means we can focus our innovative thinking and energy into improving customer outcomes and their customer experience.

But that’s not all. We also have an Open business which manufactures and underwrites new products and policies to support people saving for their future in areas such as workplace pensions and SIPPs.
