Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Senior Major Gifts Manager who wants to be part of delivering our bold strategy – ‘Together with Women and Girls’.

 

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

 

The purpose of this permanent role is to initiate, build and manage relationships with a portfolio of existing and prospective philanthropic supporters who are typically worth in excess of £10million and can give gifts or grants of £25,000 or more.

 

You will be responsible for securing long term, substantial financial support for ActionAid UK. The role also has line management responsibilities of one direct report (Major Gifts Manager) who has recently joined the organisation.

Keen to make your mark in a major International Development organisation, you’ve got the passion and energy to secure significant financial support from high net-worth individuals and their trusts/foundations.

 

We will look to you to secure strategic and multi-annual income for our country programmes, as well as to ensure we provide the best possible supporter experience.

 

Leveraging a range of tools from research, events and collaboration with project/ programme experts, you will develop and implement clear and ambitious plans for a dynamic prospect pipeline, increasing donor engagement, and maximising ask opportunities. 

 

You will be responsible for raising awareness of ActionAid’s mission, vision and values, to inspire prospective and existing donors to engage with and to support international development, campaign and humanitarian work, through proactive and extensive networking.

 

The post holder will take responsibility for communicating ActionAid’s work persuasively through meetings, presentations and funding applications, as well as coordinate the delivery of an exciting new initiative to engage existing and prospective philanthropic supporters in ActionAid’s humanitarian work.

 

With exceptional interpersonal and negotiating skills, you are an accomplished communicator and have a proven track record of building a portfolio of relationships at the most senior levels.

 

You are entrepreneurial, innovative, ambitious and results focussed, with a proven ability of successfully soliciting major gifts and grants and you are adept at developing persuasive and innovative proposals.
