About Human Centred Design (HCD) at Lloyds
You'll join the HCD team, which is a new team of over 200 designers and researchers across the group. HCD is formed of 9 different guilds, from interaction design to storytellers and design researchers. In joining us you'll be a member of an excellent community of designers, that fosters compassion, connection, courage, craft & clarity.
As Design Researcher, you'll conduct research to explore customer needs, perceptions and behaviours towards Lloyds Banking Group products & services using various methods (e.g. depth interviews, focus groups, ethnographic research, heuristic evaluations and reviews, surveys, diary studies and A/B testing). Additionally, you’ll prepare for research projects (research plan, recruitment briefs, discussion guides); ensure research goals and outputs are well defined and easily understood by colleagues; maintain close relationships with core design teams; and implement the best methods (checklists, participant recruitment) & compliance with GDPR and MRS code of conduct to safeguard customers.
The ideal experience, skills and background:
* Be confident in defining which research methodology is most appropriate, depending on the research question, timelines and budget * Able to identify the underlying customer problem or need; analyse and think critically about research outputs & insights * Advocate effectually for the customer in conversations with your team and senior colleagues * Develop and communicate research plans and meet deadlines through strong planning and organisational skills * Use design thinking principles to define better problems & creative solutions and efficiently communicate with partners of different background & levels to get consensus
You’ll also work autonomously and in larger teams, ideally with experience of a fast-paced agile work culture.

The minimum requirements we’re looking for in this role:
* Demonstrate consistent experience of and being able to efficiently advocate for conducting customer research, and crafting and communicating an entire research programme for your area/team to senior colleagues * You must show significant experience in quantitative and qualitative research, with an ability to plan and run usability tests, click test, card sorting exercises, focus groups and in-depth interviews * A strong background in Design Research, Service Design, Ethnography, HCI, cognitive psychology or related fields
