Senior HR Officer

£36,237 pa increasing to £38,145 after 12 months

Full-time (35 hours per week) 

Permanent contract 

Society Building, 8 All Saints Street, London N1 

An excellent opportunity to progress your HR career in a demanding generalist role.  You have strong communication and influencing skills, and actively build strong working relationships, acting as the first point of contact for employment matters.

Integral to this role is responsibility for working closely with our payroll provider to ensure that staff are paid correctly, and on time.  This involves ensuring the data they receive is accurate as well as being competent in querying their calculations*. You also lead on administering pension contributions, calculating staff entitlements e.g. annual leave and Bank Holiday entitlements for part-time staff, holiday pay for weekend working, and other employee benefits.  You will also pull together data on our pay gaps.  These areas of work are essential parts of your role you must be highly numerate and have excellent accuracy and attention to detail.  

You will also lead our recruitment process, including onboarding and conducting HR inductions. Working closely with line managers and our web support team, youll help make the recruitment process a positive and professional experience, in line with our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Knowledgeable in HR databases, you ensure our employee records are up to date and correct. Your skills in MS Office packages will be used to collate and analyse data to draft reports and to inform our work and planning.  One key HR project you will lead on, is implementing a new HRIS, and training staff how to maximise its potential.

You are diplomatic and understand the importance of confidentiality.  With good knowledge of employment law, you are pragmatic in the advice you give, and in how to implement our policies and procedures.

This role is challenging, and you will be efficient in managing competing priorities, deadlines and a busy workload.  You are likely to be part qualified or working towards your CIPD qualification. 

You would be joining a high-performing and busy organisation and work with friendly colleagues. NCVO is based in modern offices in Kings Cross.
