Project Manager -Actuarial/IFRS/Reserving (6 Month Contract)

The Role:

We're looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who has the ability to ruthlessly prioritise. You will need to have a pragmatic approach to problem solving and be able to communicate the outcomes to a wide audience.

As the Project Manager for the IFRS 17 project you will work with all parts of the FTP and report directly to the IFRS 17 Programme Manager.

What you'll be doing as the Project Manager:

  • Build strong productive relationships with the key business stakeholders to ensure the delivery of the multiple projects.
  • Structure the projected with the appropriate project controls to ensure visibility of the deliverables and ensure delivery to plan
  • Identify and resolve business and supplier issues in order to ensure that projects can be delivered on time and within budget
  • Demonstrate control through production and management of Project Plans, Risk and Issue Logs and Budget summaries.
  • Manage the production of project deliverables, such as requirements analysis and functional specifications to ensure consistency and clarity of brief between the stakeholders
  • Management of suppliers to ensure delivery according to agreed objectives

We are embarking on a multi-year transformation of our finance function in order to meet our growth ambitions. A core enabler to this Finance Transformation Programme is to ensure that the finance systems and data architecture supporting the business are fit for purpose and future-proofed to help drive the growth agenda of the business.

A significant amount of work has already been undertaken to understand our needs and define the journey of transformation that is required. The programme is firmly in flight and key components of our target solution includes the implementation of a General Ledger solution that works alongside a Finance Data Warehouse and Accounting Rules Engine.

The role will require the ability to see the bigger picture and the links and dependencies with the other projects within the overall Finance Transformation Programme. It will also require an understanding of basic Back Office accounting processes and the people, processes and systems needed to support them.

Our must-haves:

  • Be experienced in working in Finance within the Insurance sector ideally having gained experience delivering an end to end Actuarial Transformation project.
  • Have experienced working as a Project Manager in an environment of multiple projects with challenging timeframes and deliverables.
  • Have had exposure to the full project life cycle, from inception to user acceptance testing and initial live running with the experience to use the correct level of control.
  • Strong project governance and control with an understanding of the end to end software development life cycle and how this affects the business.
  • Stakeholder, conflict and influence management skills are required.
  • Able to bridge the gap between Business and IT helping describe the business needs to the IT team.
  • Matrix Management.
  • Team direction setting/leadership - mixed skilled, multi located teams.
  • Project management professional qualification such as (Prince 2, APM, PMI).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business.
  • MS Project.
  • Be a part qualified actuary.
