Job Description

Remuneration: £12,241 per annum

Based in the Borough of Hackney, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and community services to the people of East London and the City. It also provides specialist services including obstetrics, neonatology, fetal medicine, fertility, neurorehabilitation, bariatric surgery in addition to asthma and allergy services to a wider population.   With a workforce of over 3,500 across 75 sites, the Trust was one of the first to gain Foundation Trust status (in 2004) and since then it has retained a reputation as an innovative, quality driven Trust.

We are recognised as innovators in embracing methods and systems that promise better and safer patient care and our current strategic plan sets out an ambitious, yet values driven vision focussed around three strategic priorities of Quality, Integration and Growth.  Externally, effective partnership working has been consistently at the core of all that the Trust does; and as a key contributor to the East London Health and Care Partnership (along with local CCGs, councils and fellow provider organisations) we are aware of the responsibility we have in shaping the context within which we operate and influencing the development of the local health and care system.

With this in mind we must ensure that we have the expertise required at Board level to support the ongoing development of the Trust and its navigation of the changing context within which it operates.  We are currently seeking to appoint a Clinical NED to our Board Candidates will bring a track record of a depth of clinical expertise as a doctor, nurse or allied health professional along with experience strategic leadership and personal achievement in a complex environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, together with an ability to grasp the relevant issues; underpinned by an understanding of how to engage, listen and build relationships with other key stakeholders both internally and externally are of paramount importance.  Above all else we are seeking a genuine commitment to supporting our Trust and its people to continue to serve patients effectively, safely and respectfully.
