Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. Thats when it hits home.

Were currently putting the finishing touches to our independent supported living CQC services in the beautiful old mill town of Kirklees.  Our Calder House and Queen Street services (opening in February 2020) will support adult customers who have a range of complex needs including Learning Disabilities, Personality Disorders and Mental Health issues.  Well be offering person centred support, helping customers to live in their own home and fulfil their goals and aspirations so they can live their best lives.

Our two beautifully refurbished buildings, Calder House in Mirfield and Queen Street in Ravensthorpe, both have self-contained furnished apartments.  We are also very close to Huddersfield town centre by public transport or by car.

Your role

Youll be a lone worker during the night and our customers first point of call if they need you.  Working waking nights as our Support Worker (known internally to us as Supported Living Worker), youll be supporting our customers to live their day to day lives as independently as possible, helping with everyday activities including daily living tasks, health, emotional and behavioural support. Youll be helping customers who have more complex needs with personal care, such as bathing in the evening and issuing medication.  Youll be our night owl who safeguards our customers and our building, ensures records are kept up to date and ready to handover to day shift colleagues.  You might even carry out some light cleaning duties if needed.

Youll find that no two days are the same because everything we do is €œperson centred€ around our customers.  Youll assist in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, ensuring at all times every customer feels valued, respected and that their dignity is maintained.  Youll also work closely with our Supported Living Coordinators and external agencies to support our customers.

About our team

Were recruiting a brilliant new team, so youre going to be part of a fabulous new Home Group family.  Youll be reporting to Tracey our Registered Manager who celebrated her 16th anniversary with Home Group this year, so youll have tons of experienced support on hand. Tracey loves nothing more than walking her dog Dink, before relaxing on the sofa with a good crime novel.  She also has a real adventurous side, so you might also find her snorkelling off the Turkish coast or quad biking in the mountains.

Working hours

These waking night roles will cover the twilight shifts, working a 2 week pattern.  Week 1 will be 8.45 pm to 8.15 am Monday to Wednesday and 4 pm to 8.30 pm on a Friday. Week 2 will be 8.45 pm to 8.15 am Thursday and 8am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday.  We also have a weekends only shift.  We are flexible with the amount of hours you want to work.

Bank

You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash.

About you

Youll have a positive can do attitude and passionate about making a big impact on our customers lives.   Its important that you have worked in a supported housing environment before and have experience of helping customers to reach their full potential.  Youll have a brilliant understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding, risk assessment, case management and creating bespoke and personalised support plans.  Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well nurture your talent, help you understand how things work at Home Group and youll have a fantastic induction with ongoing learning and support!

Youll ideally hold a Level 2 certificate or equivalent in Health and Social Care, if you dont, well pay and support you to achieve this.  To make sure we keep our customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!).

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which well pay for.
