Homeless People Support Worker

Location Brewery Street, Barrow in Furness

Full Time (37.5 hpw), Permanent

Salary of £17,600 to £18,000 pa

Salary £17,600 to £18,000 pa rising to £19,200 through length of service

From £9.00 per hour if youd prefer to work on a casual basis

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers, who have been homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to improve their independence, health and wellbeing and personal resilience.

 

They live in a supported accommodation service in Barrow which comprises of one bedroom self-contained flats with communal lounge and laundry facilities. We help our customers to maintain their tenancies, re-engage with external agencies and give support with budgeting and daily living skills.

About our team

Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team were a work family.

 

Working hours

Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of 9am and 7pm Monday to Friday and take your turn working weekends (10am to 1pm) and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

 

About you

Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

 

We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!

 

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

 

To make sure our customers are well supported, its important that you have worked in a supported housing environment before. Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well help to you understand how things work at Home Group!

 

As this is a community based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Dont worry, well pay you expenses to cover this use!

 

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
