Job Description

The Natural History Museum (NHM) is a world-class visitor attraction and leading science research centre and commercial event space. We use our unique collections and unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million specimens, both in our London and Tring museums, spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually.

As part of NHM’s Strategy to 2031, one of our key strategic priorities is to create a resilient and sustainable organisation. The Venue Hire and Visitor Events teams generate vital income for the Museum through the variety of corporate, private and public events that we host.

Building on our world-leading collection, global reputation for science and as one of the world’s leading visitor attractions, the NHM has ambitious plans leading up to its 150th anniversary in 2031 making this a truly exciting time to be part of the NHM team.

About the role

This is very much an administrative role, you will be the administrative support for two Events focused teams within the museum and you must be able to prioritise your workload and the challenges that come with working across two teams. This is a 9-5 role with the occasional event support required.

You will be responsible for maintaining effective financial and procurement processes along with year-end reconciliations and preparing reports and administrative processes within these very busy departments for high calibre events and filming. The role will also support the delivery of the venue hire marketing plan and will assist the team with business development and industry research.

About you

We are looking for someone who has worked in an administrative role previously, particularly with experience in processing invoices and paperwork. Your attention to detail is crucial.

You will need to have excellent data entry skills to make sure guest passes and lists are accurate. Fast to pick up new technology, you will need to have strong Excel skills along with Word and other MS products. Candidates with some experience of using Excel for financial management as well as data management will be preferred. You will need to be a confident communicator, to remain courteous and always polite with our clients.

The team would consider this role as a job share arrangement.

Closing date: 9am on Thursday 12 December 2019 Interviews will be held on 18 December 2019
