Develop exciting new health and wellbeing strategies.

Support a happy, effective team.

The challenge

Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is a growing, rapidly-evolving public corporation. Essentially, we’re responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. Meeting this challenge is a talented team whose wellbeing is a priority. As HR People Services Manager, you’ll have the chance to develop new ways of keeping our people well and happy.

The role

With a hands-on, proactive approach, you’ll develop our mental health strategy and turn it into reality. A subject matter expert, you’ll draw on a range of insight to ensure that plans and solutions are as effective as they can be. You’ll also contribute to a variety of health and safety projects, and will be part of promoting health and wellbeing through events across our three offices. At the same time, you’ll be focusing on diversity and inclusion creating exciting new initiatives to help ONR. Drawing on best practice, and previous experience you’ll give expert guidance on casework issues.

The person

With a background in health, safety and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, you’ll bring proven knowledge and a fresh perspective. You know how to shape a mental health strategy, deliver it and lead change in a fast-paced organisation. You can also work with a range of stakeholders to make your ideas happen, using great communication skills. And with your collaborative approach, you’ll work with everyone from trade unions to internal managers, earning trust and buy-in. Adaptable and ideally CIPD-qualified, you’ll build your solutions around our team and switch between changing priorities.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £38,236 - £45,783. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a generous holiday entitlement.

About us

ONR is a Public Corporation with a Mission to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK’s licensed nuclear sites. Our staff are drawn from a wider range of professional backgrounds in order to run a stand-alone business with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider International nuclear community.
