Job Description

The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist will have a strong background in genome analysis and interpretation methods to be a Product Owner for development teams working on a large/complex clinical software development project. This role will also include external facing customer interactions and help shape internal strategic planning around clinical and healthcare customers.

Key objectives include leading software teams to build features in the right priority, based on the candidates deep experience in whole genome sequencing and interpretation for rare diseases and oncology. Bioinformatics experience will be leveraged to handle a variety of tasks, including but not limited to prototyping analyses for software groups to implement, debugging software in development, and automating analyses and other management/organisational tasks. The candidate should be comfortable working globally and with large cross functional teams, be well organized and able to work through and achieve detailed goals with high level guidance.

This position will require a high degree of initiative, autonomy, and scientific collaboration with academic and commercial customers, and the successful applicant should have a proven record of leadership working with diverse teams and consortia.

Responsibilities:

    Product Owner for software teams building clinical whole genome interpretation solutions
    Prototype new algorithms and approaches for variant interpretation
    Interface with key customers to shape internal strategy and influence the external community on clinical whole genome sequencing adoption

Requirements:

    Expert in genetic analysis of large cohorts of exome / whole genome data, variant analysis, association analysis, pedigree-based analysis, and quality control
    Possesses strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific ideas to clinical, scientific, and industry audiences.
    Be willing to work in a fast paced, competitive environment, and hold a strong record of successful delivery of complex scientific projects and publications under tight timelines.
