Support Worker
Cambourne, Cornwall
Permanent, 37 hours per week
Salary £17,600 to £18,000 pa rising to £19,200 (Pro rated)
£9 per hour if youd prefer to work on our bank on a casual basis

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team, to support our brilliant customers who have housing related needs and in need of 6 weeks of crisis/intensive support.


Our customers live in their own or supported accommodation, however this may be at risk due to a variety of reasons.
Our support is community based, youll meet customers either in their own homes, in public spaces or they can attend any of our county wide ad hoc drop ins for advice. This current role is to cover the West of Cornwall -Camborne to Lands End (and anything in between). You must have use of your own car and business Insurance. Expenses will be paid from your base location of Roskear House, Camborne.


We help our customers with whatever housing related needs they may have in order to avoid homelessness. This can also involve supporting them to refer for support with their physical or mental health needs, benefits, drug and/or alcohol or anything else that may arise.

About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team were a work family. Our manager is Amanda, who has worked for us for nearly 10 years.  There are 10 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! Robin is the new Co-ordinator for the West, so will be in a supervisory role to you and Kevin has just started as our part time Support Worker. Michelle is covering on a temporary basis but she is a valuable member of the team.


Working hours
Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of 9-5 Monday to Friday. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!


There are opportunities to go on the bank of on call responders, but this is voluntary, so its up to you.

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.


About you
Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.
You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively. We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. 


Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!


To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)


To make sure our customers are well supported, its important that you have worked in a supported/Housing related environment before. Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well help to you understand how things work at Home Group!


As this is a community based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Dont worry, well pay you expenses to cover this use!


If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which well pay for.
