Support Coordinator – Level 3
Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary £17,600 to £19,100 per annum depending on experience
£9.00 per hour if you’d prefer to work on our bank on a casual basis

We have fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team in our award winning mental health carers’ service.  We support our brilliant customers who have caring responsibilities, enabling change in creating healthy resilient and sustainable communities.

Your main duties will include networking with GPs in Birmingham to ensure a clear support route for mental health carers. Another big part of the job will be to liaise with our service volunteers where you will oversee their day to day tasks and be a constant support when needed. As this is a sparkly new role, you'll have the flexibility to really shape and influence the post and the service.

About our team
You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Kieran, who has worked for Home Group for many years. When Kieran is not at work he can normally be found socialising with friends, spending time in Wales, or expecting Wales to win in the rugby. He loves working with and supporting people to be their best, and supporting them in their journey through Home Group. There are a huge 19 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! Don’t panic, we don’t expect you to learn everyone’s names straight away, and you will have a buddy from your first day. One of your new colleagues will be Rafiya who’s been here for about a year. She’s really proactive and supportive, and will be sure to take you under her wing.
Working hours
We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you! Our service operates Monday to Friday from 8am until 8pm but the hours are flexible within this – we work collaboratively with the carers so you will have autonomy to manage your diary.
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.
You’ll help change our customer’s lives (and our services) for the better by undertaking risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews. You’ll create bespoke and personalised support plans with and for your customers.  Each plan will look to meet our customer’s individual needs and aspirations, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements. You’ll also have responsibility for coordinating our volunteers and apprentices, and working collaboratively with external agencies and GPs, to assess and engage support for our customers.

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) You’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go.
It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!
As this is a community based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!
If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
