Senior Support Worker
Permanent Full Time 37.5 hpw
Salary starts at £17,600 to £19,100 per annum (pro rata) rising to £23,500 per annum (pro rata) through performance

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as a senior support worker in an award winning mental health carers service. You’ll be a real catalyst for change in creating healthy, resilient and sustainable communities. Your main duties will be GP engagement where you will liaise and work closely with Birmingham GP’s to ensure a clear support route for mental health carers. Another big part of the job will be to liaise with our service volunteers where you will oversee their day to day tasks and a constant support when needed. With this being a new role, you'll have the flexibility to shape the post around you and most importantly the service.

You’ll have an eye for detail, creative spark and use of your brilliant understanding of the local environment to target GP’s and communities with a main focus on mental health carers.  This is no boring desk based role!  You’ll pop into the service in central Birmingham from time-to-time but as you’ll be spending most of your time in the community working from GP practices we’ll give you the latest IT kit, a surface pro tablet and smart phone to complete your work on the go!  You’ll also be paid between practice visits and meetings and for your mileage too. 

You’ll be working alongside Kieran, the Senior Client Service Manager leading the service, and 15 other colleague who are all super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrate their achievements. When Kieran in not at work he can normally be found socialising with friends or spending time in Wales, He’s worked for Home Group for many years and loves working with and supporting people to be their best, and is keen to start a new journey for the mental health carers service. This is an exciting time to join Home Group and be part of something that you can have a real input and influence on. As Lead Support Worker you will manage a caseload of customers, working closely with external agencies and our amazing team of Support Workers in delivering person centred support.  We know that one size doesn’t fit all, so our customers lead their own support every step of the way.   Together you will really make a difference, empowering our customers to achieve their goals and aspirations as outlined in their support plans and develop the independent living skills they need to successfully move on with a positive future.

A bit about you

To flourish in the role, you will be a like-minded dedicated person who can demonstrate compassion, empathy and creativity in your approach and use your unique skills in enabling customers to reach their full potential. 

With previous experience of working with vulnerable people in a support or care environment, you will have a great understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding, risk assessment, confidentiality and be experienced in case management.  It’s also important that you can work in holistic way building partnerships with external agencies and that you have strong IT skills too.

You’ll need to have a driving licence, car and car insurance business cover as some travelling will be required.
If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
