Head of Information Systems Business Unit

Due to an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for a Head of Information Systems Business Unit. This role reports to the Head of Technology & Innovation, as well as being a member of the overall company management team.

The Technology & Innovation Services Business Line (TIS BL) provides a range of software development, intelligent systems, data analytics, visualisation, human factors, cyber security and mission systems services to a variety of defence, security and government clients.

This role will be a member of the TIS BL management team to support realisation of the Business Line Vision and objectives and meet targets through development of Strategic options and deployment of tactical actions.

The Head of the Information Systems Business Unit (BU) is accountable for the overall performance and development of the Information Systems BU team.

Currently the department has around 40 staff based in Bath & Fareham. Although this role will be based in Bath you will be expected to travel on a regular basis between sites.

What are we looking for?

To be successful in the role you will need the following:

- A demonstrable understanding and experience of our Information Systems capabilities; agile software design and delivery, digital transformation, data science, artificial intelligence, visualisation & simulation, cyber security and human factors.

- Experience of successfully managing high calibre technical staff

- Sound experience of Project Management techniques and practices

- Excellent communication skills at all levels

- Experience of managing budgets including forecasting

- Good negotiating and influencing skills

- A strategic perspective with the ability to forward plan and develop new business ideas is a must for this role
