Job Description

London / Barkingside

Help to build safer childhoods, stronger families and positive futures for the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people

Barnardo’s, the largest and oldest children’s charity in the UK, is entering the third year of its ambitious ten-year strategy to transform the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.  Last year, our 8,000 staff and over 22,000 volunteers supported over 300,000 children, young people, parents and carers through over 1000 vital services and running over 700 stores in our UK-wide retail network.

We are seeking an ambitious and innovative Director of Brand and Marketing to play a key role in our mission to improve outcomes for the children, young people and their families that we support in diverse communities in the UK.

This is an unrivalled opportunity to raise the external profile and brand presence of what is already an internationally renowned charity.  You will use a range of channels, including digital as a key component, and ensure consistency in the messages we deliver – whatever the platform.  A skilled influencer, you will acquire, develop and maximise relationships with high-profile partners and stakeholders to further our income generation objectives. As well as leading their own team, the Director will act as a key strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees.

We are seeking a high-calibre, inspirational individual with both strategic and operational leadership experience within brand and marketing using a range of media and channels. You will have track record of great success in a similar role within an organisation of large scale and complexity. You will have outstanding influencing, engagement and relationship building skills, with a first-class knowledge of brand and marketing strategy.

This is an exceptional opportunity to be an exemplar of innovation and best practice across the not for profit sector. Whatever your sector background, you will bring the skills, credibility and drive to play a key role in the next stage of Barnardo’s development.
