We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Database Scientist to work on an innovative collaboration between Scymaris and The University of Plymouth.
A unique opportunity for a recently qualified computer scientist to work on a joint project under Knowledge Transfer Partnership, between Scymaris and the University of Plymouth. The key objective of this role is to develop a dynamic software data analytics tool to predict the impact of new chemicals and compounds upon the environment and to enable certification testing to be optimised.
You will have a good first degree with a minimum 2.1 (Hons) in a relevant subject such as Computer Science, Computing and Informatics or Data Science. A post graduate qualification such as an MSc in Data Analytics/Science or a relevant subject would be advantageous.
You will have practical experience of collating, aggregating and securing data from various sources and developing complex databases. Evidence of familiarity with data analytical techniques is also essential. Highly numerate with a methodical and tenacious approach to projects. Experience of working in a relevant industry is desirable as is understanding the techniques and tools used to manipulate Big Data Sets. The ability to develop and refine a vision for an ongoing and growing data analytics capability based on a variety of data sources, both internal and external is important and candidates should be prepared to speak to this as part of the interview process.
Your personal qualities will include an appreciation for environmental issues and of reducing environmental impacts. You will have demonstrable communication skills with the ability to lead a project from the technical/scientific perspective.
