Service Manager â Extra Care
Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary starts at circa £28,000 per annum rising to £35,500 per annum through performance

This is your opportunity to become a key driver in the setup and delivery of our exciting new state of the art Extra Care Living Community on the outskirts of Reading. This is a service and a role with a difference!
Weâre currently putting the finishing touches to our brand spanking new mixed tenure community â which is larger than your average Extra Care Service (yes we are bragging). Our community will house 129 purpose built apartments (which will be mixed tenure - all in the same building). This will be a 55 years+ service, we anticipate our residents will be mostly aged 65+ though, but who knows we may attract a younger crowd!
We will be offering our customers a high quality living experience with a variety of brilliant facilities, run by our partner organisations. There will be Care provision, community wellbeing facilities, a restaurant (open to public), separate hair and beauty salons, communal activity room (adaptable to all purposes) as well as landscaped gardens, communal lounges, and even a small shop!
In this role you will have overall responsibility for delivery of Home Groupâs housing management offer and the smooth running of the building. You will not be responsible for the care delivery element of our service offer (our partners will be doing that!). You will be responsible for ensuring that the building and the tenancies are managed smoothly.
Youâll work alongside, and guide our new assistant service manager (who hasnât been appointed yet either!) in the delivery of our amazing housing management offer. Together youâll create and deliver our unique service offer. Youâll both be supported by Morven our Operations Manager who has worked for Home Group for several years now and likes nothing more than catching some live music in her spare time.
You will also be working closely with Reading Borough Council and our Care Provider to ensure effective management of incoming and existing placements at the service.

A bit about you
You are vibrant and thrive in a customer facing environment. You enjoy working with an older customer group. Youâll be comfortable leading the delivery of our services. Whilst you love helping your customers, youâre also able to find the balance to move on to your next tasks. In this job no two days are the same! You can effectively manage customerâs expectations and their complaints in a timely and efficient manner.
You have managed an âOlder Person'sâ or âExtra Careâ service and know how these operate. You are in your element working in a multi team environment and get the best from working in partnerships (and definitely know how to make these work!). You appreciate that compliance is a critical element of your service delivery and are happy to dot the iâs and cross the tâs. You understand and deliver upon KPI targets and can effectively manage a budget, as well as drive the consistent delivery and improvement that make a difference to our customerâs lives.
You have led and inspired colleagues and know how to get the best out of your team!
