Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a lay Hearing Panel member Are you interested in playing a vital role in enhancing our work and enabling the GOC to assure the health and protection of those who use the services of optometrists and dispensing opticians? We are the regulator for optical professionals in the UK. Our Hearings Panel judges whether an optometrists or dispensing opticians fitness to practise is impaired and imposes sanctions if appropriate to do so. We are looking for a lay person with good communication, analysis, critical thinking and team working skills and a demonstrable commitment to dealing with people and issues honestly, fairly and with respect. This role is rewarding and challenging, and presents a great opportunity for personal development through learning from the experience of other hearing panel members as well as sharing your own. Interviews will be held in our London office on Thursday 31 May and Friday 1 June 2018.
