Year 6 teaching job in Dudley
Your new school
Hays Education is working with a primary school in Dudley who needs a year 6 teacher to join them 4 days a week. The headteacher is relatively new to their post but not to the school after having stepped up from being the deputy headteacher in September. This school has supportive staff that values everyone, and they aim to ensure that every child leaves them fulfilling their maximum potential and ready for the next stage in their learning. They also have an understanding senior leadership team that are mindful of teachers' workloads and have put a number of measures in place to support a better work-life balance.

Your new role
Your new job as a year 6 teacher will be working on a part-time basis starting after February half-term up until the end of the academic year. There is also the potential of it becoming a permanent position. This is a two-form entry school where you will be teaching both year 6 classes over the 4 days. The reason for the cover is to allow the 2 assistant headteachers, that are already teaching year 6, their leadership time. There is minimal planning involved, you will need to tweak it depending on the needs of the class, and you will be required to do live marking. The year 6's will be sitting their SAT's this year and will need as much support as possible.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A positive attitude, as you will need to build strong relationships with the children.
  • A qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A valid enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
  • Experience teaching year 6 and getting them through their SAT's
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning outcomes in Key Stage 2
  • A strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks for Key Stage 2
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to working in different schools and settings
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and improvement

  • What you'll get in return
  • You will be paid a competitive daily wage, based on your experience.
  • You will accrue holiday pay with the option to take it at any point of the year.
  • You will receive free, up-to-date safeguarding training.
  • You will also have a consultant available to you who will support you throughout your role.
