Job Description

This post is a fixed term contract for a period of approximately 3 months to cover maternity leave until 31 May 2018. Providing a professional advice and support service across a range of academic and study skills that will add value to the student experience is pivotal to the University.   The University of Chichester is seeking to appoint an experienced professional Academic Skills Advisor on a fixed term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave.  The post holder will provide advice and support for all students on a range of academic and study skills, and work with academics and other members of staff to enhance the broad provision of study skills support across the University. With an extensive knowledge of academic study skills (referencing, academic writing, essay planning, exams revision, etc), you will be responsible for the promotion, design and delivery of workshops, group-work and drop-in sessions for all students, in addition to providing individual support sessions. Whilst able to work independently, you will also be encouraged to work collaboratively; participating in the development of relevant initiatives across the Directorate of Learning and Information Services, to ensure effective coordination, promotion and development of services across the University. Qualified to degree level or equivalent, you will have the relevant interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills to be effective in post.  You will also have experience of teaching study skills or key skills to adults in an education environment and have a flexible approach to your work pattern. Experience of supporting students with basic maths (GCSE level) is highly desirable.
