Job Description

The role of Environmental Systems Research Assistant is required to support the University's responsibilities under the Channel Payment for Eco-system Services (CPES) programme, funded through the EU INTERREG V programme.  The University is leading this new ‚¬4 million EU project that will improve the water quality in a number of rivers and lakes in the South of England and the North of France.  The project aims to reduce nutrient levels by implementing six pilot PES schemes across the Channel area. The Research Assistant will be working with the academic team and be responsible for continuing the primary research and identified research activities in support of the project.  The post will be based at our Bognor Regis campus and will be for a fixed term of 36 months. Aspects of the research will include the design and development of the schemes, and monitoring the effectiveness of the pilot implementations.  The RA will also contribute to evaluating the socio-economic impact of the PES schemes and their promotion to other EU regions Applicants will need to hold a minimum of a Honours Degree  in an appropriate subject area such as business, economics, tourism management, environmental science, marketing, geography and must be able to demonstrate evidence of undertaking high quality research.  You will be approachable, adaptable and conscientious and must be self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised, under pressure and use own initiative. There will be an opportunity for the right candidate to complete a PhD in a relevant subject.
