Job Description

Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority 400 per day for up to two to three days per month The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is the independent statutory body tasked with the regulation and administration of MPs? business costs and expenses, the payment of the salaries of MPs and their staff and setting MPs? pay and pensions. Since it was set up in 2010, IPSA has established a firm reputation as being independent of both Parliament and Government. Its remit means that it has to pay due regard both to the interests of taxpayers and to the needs of MPs to do their jobs effectively. IPSA is now looking for two new Board members one of whom must be eligible for appointment as a statutory auditor by virtue of Chapter 2 of Part 42 of the Companies Act 2006*. This member will also be expected to take on the role of Chair of IPSA?s Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and previous experience as the Chair or member of an audit and risk assurance committee is an essential requirement for this role. For the other Board member, IPSA is seeking senior level experience of delivering transformational business change and utilising technology to improve service delivery. The IPSA Board will often find itself in the media and public spotlight as it addresses issues that generate vigorous debate across our society. Board members are individually and collectively responsible for all that the Board decides. The ability to work collaboratively, think strategically and achieve collective decisions is as important as a strong track record in your professional field. Prior experience as a non-executive Board member is required for these roles, together with demonstrable experience of contributing to the leadership and strategic direction of a complex organisation. Additionally, an understanding of regulation and the role of the regulator is key, as is experience of complex stakeholder management.
