Job Description
The New Economics Foundation aims to be the most exciting progressive think and action tank in the United Kingdom.
Our goal is to build the case for a new economy where people really take control and to partner with other organizations seeking to build that change here and now. We believe in an economy that is truly just and sustainable. One that takes power out of the hands of unaccountable elites and enables individuals and their communities democratically to shape their own future.
We have a proud thirty-year history but we are setting out in a new direction. Earlier this month, we launched a major plan for change, along with a new website and new branding. We have also recently appointed three Principal Directors to provide new leadership for the organization, in Campaigns and Movements, Communities and Localities and Policy and Government.
This role is the fourth Principal Directorship. It is designed to oversee the Foundations vital partnerships with trade unions and progressive businesses and to be a leading player in the national debate concerning political economy. You would have responsibility for being, and being seen to be, a vital connector between unions, businesses and the Foundation, for working to envision and initiate innovative projects in political economy and for developing a strong personal profile as a major thinker in political economy, including in the national media.
You will be a strategic leader in the Foundation community. You will play a major role in raising the funds required to deliver this exciting vision from philanthropic trusts and foundations, unions, businesses and other supporters.
If you feel you can deliver this exciting brief we would be delighted to hear from you. To apply for this role, please send a covering letter along with your CV and the equal opportunities form to recruitment@neweconomics.org
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all persons regardless of their race, gender, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age. But, as members of ethnic minority groups and disabled people are currently under-represented at this level of post, we would encourage applications from members of these groups. Appointment will be based on merit alone.
As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.
