Job Description

UKs leading MS charity seeks trustees Great opportunity to build upon your senior level experience - whatever your background and wherever in the UK you are The MS Society is seeking new Trustees who will challenge us to be even better - as we fund ground-breaking research into the causes and treatment of MS whilst at the same time supporting people with MS here and now. Do you have experience at Board level in other public or private organisations, or other similar experience? Do you want to work with us as we seek to create a world free from the effects of MS and make a real difference to the lives of people affected by MS? If so, we want to hear from you. We particularly welcome applications from people with one or more of the following areas of skill, expertise or knowledge: - Finance / Tax / Investment - Volunteer engagement - Marketing / brand - Strong knowledge and understanding of our local network, branches, support groups and membership. Were seeking three senior, highly-talented individuals with the right personal qualities and necessary experience at Board level, to be Trustees. We need strategic thinkers with excellent communication skills - and the ability to assimilate complex information and to ask challenging strategic questions. You need to share our values and be prepared to commit the time and energy needed to do a great job. The role is a voluntary one though expenses are paid. We welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our people. We are committed to equality of opportunity and a diverse Board of Trustees. We welcome applications from people with the right skills and experience regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief. Applications from across the UK are encouraged and expenses are paid - where you live does not affect whether you would be a good Trustee. We encourage applications from people with or affected by MS. The deadline for completed applications is 16 May and interviews are on the 9 and possibly 10 June. Please contact Alexa Dunn, Governance Officer, on Alexa.Dunn@mssociety.org.uk or 020 8438 0777 for an information pack which contains further information about the role and about the charity. Not the role for you? We are also looking for 20 people to join our national councils. These are a vital link, in each of the UKs four nations, between our Board of Trustees and our senior staff and our branches, members and the wider community of people living with MS. They are one of the ways in which we ensure that the day-to-day experience of people affected by MS is heard and understood. Again, please contact Alexa for further information, letting her know where you live.
