Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) and Science and Technology (S&T) Location: Central London Expected starting salary: 75,000 - 80,000 Appointment: Permanent or fixed-term Closing date: Midnight 11th April 2016 Can you make a difference by leading Home Office work to develop the capabilities that the UK needs to protect against terrorist attacks using explosives or chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) materials? The Office for Security and Counter Terrorism (OSCT) within the Home Office supports the Home Secretary and other Ministers in the development, direction, implementation and governance of the UKs strategies for countering international terrorism and reducing the risk from organised crime. We are seeking a senior leader to join the team responsible for programmes to strengthen the UKs protection against terrorist attack and mitigate the impact of a successful attack. The post holder will also deliver the science and technology requirements of counter terrorism and serious and organised crime programmes. The Role With a budget of over 20m, the post holder will lead four teams responsible for: - oversight of the Cyclamen programme which detects and deters radiological and nuclear material at the border; - ensuring that the emergency services are trained and equipped to deal with CBRN emergencies; - denying terrorists access to explosives, their precursors or other materials that might cause harm (including chemical and biological materials); and - running a science and technology programme which supports and pushes forward counter-terrorism and serious and organised crime policy development and keeps pace with wider developments. Candidate Profile You will be an exceptional leader, from a large and complex organisation, with proven ability to convey a persuasive vision and set a strong direction to all levels. In addition to experience of policy and strategy development and delivery, you will have the ability to drive and manage transformational change and strong programme management capability. An excellent stakeholder manager, you will be able to influence effectively, especially in environments where complex partnerships and competing priorities exist.
