Electric Meter Technician

We're looking for an Electric Meter Technician to join us in the Chelmsford area. Your role will involve travelling to customer homes throughout the area to remove existing meters and install, commission and configure new single-phase electrical metering (and related) equipment. We�ll also need you to demonstrate the new metering equipment to your customers and answer all their queries. So we're looking for people with great customer service skills who can be prompt, courteous and tidy. You�ll deliver the highest levels of site safety, too, and know when to report any incidents to the Field Team Leader. Of course, you'll work with a colleague for the first six months which will give you the opportunity to undertake any training or refresher courses necessary to carry out your role. Home-based, the average day of your 37 hour week will start at 8am but you�ll need to undertake travel in order to get to your first appointment. If you go over on a job and a colleague can�t help you to get it finished, we will pay overtime. Qualifications Essential - Be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision. - Good customer communication and customer service skills. - A flexible approach to travel and the ability to work on a multi-regional basis if required. - A full valid UK/EU driving licence (preferably clean, but with a maximum of 6 points). - Hold or be willing to work to attain MOCOPA (Meter Operation Code of Practice Agreement) accreditation or equivalent. - To live in one of the following postcode areas or be willing to relocate to one of them at your own cost: CO10, CO9, CO8, CO6, CO5, CM77, CM7, CM6, CM21, CM22, CM23, CM24, CB9, CB10 and CB11. - Must be able to commence employment on 7th September 2015. Desirable - An understanding of metering equipment and the ability to read and inspect metering equipment. - The ability to explain the operation of single phase meter equipment to customers. - To be well-organised and able to plan your work schedule. - The ability to succeed and create excellence in all aspects of the role. Additional Information We are recruiting for the Chelmsford area. You must currently reside in a CO10, CO9, CO8, CO6, CO5, CM77, CM7, CM6, CM21, CM22, CM23, CM24, CB9, CB10 and CB11 postcode or be willing to relocate to this area at your own cost. Due to the nature of this role a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check will be required. Interviews will be held between 13th � 25th July 2015.
