KEEP YOUR CAREER MOVING ATL is the union for education professionals across the UK. Active in the maintained, independent and post-16 sectors, we use our members experiences to influence education policy, and we work with government and employers to secure fair pay and working conditions. From early years to HE, teachers to support staff, lecturers to leaders, we support and represent our members throughout their career. National official (independent schools) Central London Part-time (2 dpw job share) Fixed term 1 year 20,412.00 pa rising incrementally (inc London weighting) + good benefits ATL is the largest single union in the independent sector with over 20,000 members. Working with your job share partner, you will develop and deliver member activity amongst those working in the independent sector. As a champion for those members you will quickly develop and disseminate expertise in the issues that matter to them. Your clear understanding of the organising agenda and its importance to union renewal will enable you to support recruitment strategies, develop member-led responses to education policy and work with activists and field-based caseworkers to provide effective collective and individual representation. An experienced negotiator, you will have first rate communication, influencing and advocacy skills and will develop relationships with major employers and other stakeholders to maximise ATL's influence and profile. You will manage complex work schedules and challenging deadlines comfortably. You will have good IT skills and demonstrate that you are both proactive and a good team worker. You will also be sensitive to the needs of a member-led and democratic association. For the proper fulfilment of the role you must be willing to travel and be nationally mobile. This role has been assessed as requiring an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service. If successful, you will be required to complete a DBS check application. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us.
